City Launch Guidelines

January 25, 2017

Your city is about to launch. Now the excitement really begins!

It’s been an adventure building your city, and now it’s time to see your efforts come to fruition as we set to launch your city in the app. Once Moovit is launched in your city, thousands of people will benefit from the service, and this is all thanks to your contributions.

What does it mean to “launch” my city?

    1. Congratulations, you’ve mapped the public transportation in your citym and it can now be made available in the app! The data you’ve helped to build will be added to the app’s service list and it will be possible to use Moovit’s features in your city, such as trip planning, live directions and Real Time (where available).
    2. Adding, or “launching” your city in the app may or may not coincide with the timeline for the official PR launch (where applicable). If your city is added to the app BEFORE the official PR launch, it is considered a silent launch. The differentiation is explained further below.

    The launching process

    Pre-launch questions
Have you answered all the final questions required to add your city to the app? If you’re not sure, check the Wall or ask the Moovit Team to see the list of questions.

My city is in the app. Now what?

    1. Testing the app in your city: the silent launch
You’ve mapped your city, now it’s time to make sure everything is perfect before the official launch. This is also the time to take what you’ve built for a test run. Let us know if there are any updates that need to be made before the official launch of your city.
    2. Invite your friends
Make sure to invite your friends and family to download Moovit and help you test the app’s services.
    3. Confidentiality
Coordinated efforts truly work best when it comes to promoting the app in your city, ensuring the word is spread, and more importantly, that it is spread in a positive way. As we also work with a number of different partners around the globe, it is important to ensure all media efforts are collaborative with the Mooviter Community, our partners and us. Following the launch guidelines ensures that everyone involved will have the best outcome possible. Leaking information about the launch to the media beforehand can destroy the launch process, including your own valuable contributions.

    Promotion

    1. Partnerships with local agencies
We are constantly inviting the local agencies to be a part of providing the most up-to-date information possible and adding services such as Real Time. If you have any questions or comments about partnerships with your city’s local agency, please speak with us.
    2. Public relations opportunities
      a) If you would like to be involved in the PR efforts in your city, please let us know and we’ll do our best to make sure you are a part of any press-related happenings. However, it is important that you do not contact any media (press, bloggers, TV reporters, journalists or other media) on your own without first coordinating with us. If you have a great idea for PR and want to help us get coverage, get in touch and the Moovit Team will help these efforts.
      b) If you are selected to participate in any press happenings, you will receive our messaging guidelines to help ensure that all of our global PR efforts and messages are perfectly aligned.
      c) If you have already contacted any media outlets, please notify us immediately so that we can coordinate with you and your contacts to ensure a great launch.
      d) Please note, it may be the case there is no official launch (i.e. press release or other PR efforts) in your city.
      e) You must be at least 18 years old to participate in any PR

    It doesn’t stop here

    Maintenance and Updates
Your city is in the app, but your help is still needed to ensure local commuters will continue to have up-to-date information about their local lines. Make sure to continue making any necessary updates in the Moovit Editor. Once updates are made, let us know so we can make sure your contributions are added in the app.
