Montgeron, Montgeron Montgeron (prononcé [mɔ̃ʒǝʁɔ̃] ) est une commune française située à dix-neuf kilomètres au sud-est de Paris dans le département de l’Essonne en région Île-de-France. Elle est partagée entre le canton de Vigneux-sur-Seine et celui de Draveil. Située entre les deux vallées de l’Yerres et de la Seine en contrebas de la forêt de Sénart sur le chemin stratégique de Paris à la Bourgogne devenue la route nationale 6, le village après avoir été un rendez-vous de chasse royale important sur la propriété de Monsieur devint au XIXe siècle une station de villégiature pour la bourgeoisie et les artistes parisiens, dont des peintres reconnus comme Claude Monet ou Edgar Degas. Rapidement urbanisée au XXe siècle avec la vogue des lotissements puis des grands ensembles, sa population fut multipliée par dix en un siècle et transforma la commune en ville de banlieue résidentielle conjuguant quartiers populaires et quartiers plus aisés. Ses habitants sont appelés les Montgeronnais.
