Tallinna Jaani kirik
Tallinna Jaani kirikTallinna Jaani kirik asub Tallinnas Vabaduse väljakul. Kirik on pühendatud Evangelist Johannesele. Tegemist on Eesti ühe varaseima uusgooti stiilis kirikuga. Kiriku arhitekt oli kubermanguarhitekt (Tallinna peaarhitekt) Christoph August Gabler. Kiriku ehitus algas 1862. aastal, kirik valmis 1867. aastal ja pühitseti sama aasta 3. advendil.Tallinna Jaani kiriku ehitamise ajendiks oli asjaolu, et traditsiooniliselt Püha Vaimu kirik Eesti kogudusele kuulunud linna Püha Vaimu kirik ajaloolises keskuses Tallinna vanalinnas jäi 14 000-liikmeliseks kasvanud kogudusele väikeseks. Raha kogumist uue kiriku ehitamiseks alustati juba 1851. aastal. Tallinna magistraadilt, kellel oli kirikule patronaadiõigus, saadi ehitamiseks luba Toomgildi päralt olnud krundile väljaspool Tallinna linnamüüri. Koguduse ülemõpetaja 1861–1867 Theodor Lutheri ettepanekul sai kirik endale evangelist Johannese järgi mugandatud nime – Jaani kirik.
